Good day everyone. This is KZTV Doppler 10 Chief Meteorologist Juan Acuņa with your long range forecast.
Hot temperatures this week with highs in the middle to upper 80s over most of the Coastal Bend as high pressure continues to rule the region. We continue to watch the remnants of what was Tropical Storm Simon in the eastern Pacific Ocean that will move to the northeast and bring showers and thunderstorms to the central and northern portions of Texas as we head towards the end of the week and the weekend. For us in South Texas, our southeasterly winds will become a bit more brisk the next couple of days. Boaters and mariners are urged to use caution on the bays and open waters with winds sustained around 15-25mph. Only a few coastal showers are expected as we head towards the first half of the weekend with afternoon highs remaining in the lower 90s and heat indices reaching the lower100s. The front associated with the remnants of Simon will stay to the north, but another weak frontal boundary will approach South Texas for the first half of next week and bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to the area on Monday. By Tuesday and Wednesday, we will slowly clear out as dry air will filter in with cooler, but still warm, highs in the middle 80s.
