Calallen High School is currently participating in the Toys for Tots program as a part of the holiday season and is accepting toys as well as monetary donations for families in need. The school is holding the drive on campus and will continue to collect throughout the month of December.

Toys for Tots is a program that strives to provide children with toys during the holiday season. With the hopes of raising self-esteem and giving children hope for better tomorrows in the lives of children who live in a state of poverty.

The students of Calallen High School are showing their support of this program and passing on the good will to those in need and encourage others to join in. Drop off locations for Toys for Tots can be found around the Corpus Christi area at such locations as the UPS Store, Toys R US, and Build-a-Bear Workshops.

"I like toys for tots because it gives families that aren't as fortunate as other families to be able to have gifts underneath the Christmas tree during Christmas time" said Manuel Rodriguez III. Rodriguez is a senior at Calallen High School who has already donated to Toys for Tots this year and is continuing to help.

Allison Furber a sophomore at Calallen is also participating with Rodriguez and enjoys giving because "you can be involved in the community and give back." The students reflected on how giving back makes them smile as they showed the donations they have collected so far.

Other drop off locations can be found at the Toys For Tots Website www.toysfortots.org. In addition to donating in person there are ways to donate online which can also be found on the organizations website.
