CORPUS CHRISTI - Residents in the Calallen area welcomed a new addition to their 5 points area as Whataburger held the grand opening of their newest restaurant. The eatery serves customers for both dine in and drive through service.
Whataburger is a staple for most residents of South Texas as well as something visitors to our area come to recognize as more than just a fast food chain. The newest addition was welcomed with open arms as customers of all ages stopped in to see the new location, as well as a get a quick bite to eat.
As a part of the grand opening festivities the chains mascot was on hand to welcome customers and wave the company banner to let drivers by know that they had arrived. Kids were happy to enjoy pictures with the mascot as a part of their visit.
Local Hockey mascot and players from the Hammerheads also made an appearance at the opening taking photo opportunities with customers of all ages and even with a party clown who was on hand for the event.
Cupcakes were served as complementary treats for the customers on hand and they even had a chance to win prizes as a part of the celebration. Outside of the restaurant customers had the chance to spin a prize wheel for a chance to win something exciting.
The fast food franchise even held a drawing for free Whataburger for a year though we have not had official word as to who the winner was. The grand prize would provide the customer with a free meal once a week for the entire year of 2015.
Though the staff was busy there was no shortage of smiles on the faces of everyone who attended that day. The new location is in the Beall's shopping center and is set to be open 24 hours per day.
