The weekend is once again approaching for Nueces County and the surrounding areas which leaves us time to enjoy the sights and sounds of our cities. For those wondering what Corpus Christi has to offer here is a list of just a few of the various events happening.


Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Graduate Arts Council is pleased to present a graduate student exhibition showcasing visual works from graphic design to photography, painting, print making and sculpture. The exhibition celebrates the creative endeavors of the department of Arts’ Graduate Arts Council , and is an opportunity for the grad students to share their creativity with their TAMUCC Family and surrounding community. Victors to the Islander Gallery will witness the talent of the emerging graduate artists and experience the quality and diversity of the art education offered by the MFA program at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. The exhibit will be on display March 13 -April 10, 2015 at the Islander Art Gallery, located in the Hamlin Shopping Center, 4024 Weber Rd, C.C. TX, 78411. There will be a closing reception, free and open to the public on April 10, 2015 at 6:00pm Gallery Hours are Wednesday-Sunday from 12:00-6:00pm. Admission is free.


Grab your tiaras and doubloons and join us for Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt. Mickey and Minnie are taking their seats too at this never-before-seen live show featuring your favorite characters from Disney Junior's hit series, Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Get swept up in the excitement as Sofia and her family prepare for a royal celebration that helps us all learn the true meaning of being a princess with a special appearance from Cinderella. Then it's off to Never Land where Jake and his swashbuckling friends Izzy and Cubby, with a little help from Peter Pan, battle Captain Hook to unlock treasure hidden inside a mysterious volcano. It's danger and dueling on the high seas as Jake discovers what it takes to be a true hero.


The Corpus Christi Area Youth Orchestra is a music program for area students ages 8-19 and is comprised of five ensembles: Harmonia, Philharmonic, Sinfonietta, Symphony Ensemble and Youth Orchestra. The Corpus Christi Area Youth Orchestra has been an educational branch of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra since 1996.The CCAYO ensembles are directed by Dr. José G. Flores and Dr. Melissa Melendez, whose commitment to rehearsing and performing exciting and challenging level-appropriate repertoire provides local young musicians with a musical experience of the highest artistic standard. TICKETS: Box Office opens for sales at 2pm in the Performing Arts Center lobby on the day of the concert. All adults, families, and relatives must purchase tickets for the concert. $12 for Adults; $6 for Students (ages 6+ with College/University ID) and free admission for children ages 5 and under. CCAYO Members NOT REQUIRED to purchase tickets.


The Relay for Life will be taking place Friday and Saturday at the Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown. The event begins at 7 P.M. and continues through the morning hours.


Gabriel Iglesias will be bringing his much anticipated Unity through Laughter tour to the American Bank Center Arena on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Born in Chula Vista, California, Gabriel Iglesias is the youngest of six children, raised by a single mother. Growing up, the family lived in Section 8 housing in Long Beach, CA. It was during his childhood that he developed a strong sense of humor to deal with the obstacles he faced. In 1997, he set out to hone his comedic skills and performed stand-up anywhere he could find an audience, including biker bars and hole in the wall joints. He never could have foreseen the incredible success he has experienced. Today, Iglesias is one of America’s most successful stand-up comedians and he performs in sold-out concerts across the United States and Internationally. His stand-up comedy is a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring his personal experiences to life. His unique and animated comedy style has made him popular among fans of all ages.
