Jose Dolorez “Gelo” Luna, 70, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2015. He was born on March 23, 1945 in Robstown, Texas to Basilio and San Juana Amesquita Luna. Jose was a Catholic, a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Banquete and prayed the rosary daily. He was also a former school board member for thirteen years at Banquete. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Jose goes home to the Lord to reunite with his paremts; his son, Hector Luna; his brother, Victor Luna; his sister, Amelida Luna; son-in-law, Margarito Trevino, Jr. who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria Alicia Luna; his children, Diana (Catarino) Alvear, Jaime (Michelle Perez) Luna, Julie (Omar) Ramirez, Esteban (Noelia) Luna, Maria Dolorez (Manuel, III) Reyes, and Starr Lindsey Luna; two brothers, Reynaldo Luna and Armando Luna; four sisters, Olga Gonzalez, Sister Guadalupe Luna, Lee Purdue and Rosa Maria Luna Vargas; step-mother, Anastacia B. Luna. He was also blessed with fourteen grandchildren, Catarino (Jennifer Castillo) Alvear, III, Cesar N. (Michelle) Alvear, Clarisa M. Alvear, Sarah M. Luna, Marcos A. Luna, Jaime R. Luna, Jr., Jamie Roberto Luna, Margarito, III, Joey Trevino (Jacquee Duron), Adriana, Alexi, Julianna, and Isabella Ramirez, Celeste Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Avery Nicole, Anthony Joe, Cesar Nicolas, Jr., Caleb Alexander, Olivia Justina Alvear, Jose “JJ” Trevino, Jr., and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. His children, grandchildren and all his family were his greatest joys.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 09, 2015 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be recited at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St, Michael the Archangel Parish in Banquete, Texas. Burial will follow at Banquete Cemetery.
