A handful of Calallen and Tuloso-Midway athletes are headed to San Antonio this weeked for the Region IV-5A track and field meet at Alamo Stadium.

The group advanced to the regional meet by placing at the area meet Saturday in Alice. The top four finishers in each event qualified to regionals.

In the girlsí side, Calallenís Alexis Sacky was second the discus with a throw of 113-3 and Breanna Galaviz was third in the long jump with a leap of 16-3.5

Calallenís Brooke Barrington was second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:21.24.

In the boyís side, Calallenís Brandon Broughton was second in the shot put with a throw of 47-8 and Chris Chapa was third in the discus with a toss of 143-4.

Brandon Galaviz of Tuloso-Midway was second in the pole-vault with a vault of 13-feet.

T-Mís A.J. Gonzalez was third in the 3,200-meter run and Ace Castillo was second in the 800. Castillo also won a gold medal in the 1,600-meter run with a time 4:34.43.

The 400-meter relay team of Calallen was fourth in the event. Calallenís 1,600-meter relay was second in their event.

Calallenís John Rodriguez was third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.71.
