Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio Counties will be hosting the Coastal Bend Grain Storage Workshop at the San Patricio Co. Civic Center, 219 W 5th St. Sinton TX., Wednesday, June 17, 2015, with registration beginning at 8:00am and the program beginning at 9:00.
Unlike our Grain Handler Safety Conference held earlier this spring, this program will focus on preserving the quality of stored grain for commercial elevators and on-farm storage facilities. The workshop will feature Dr. Carlo L. Jones an Associate Professor and Stored Products Engineer with Oklahoma State University. Dr. Jones will deliver a truck to truck comprehensive look at factors involved in storing grain in South Texas.
Topics include: Grain Quality Essentials, Safety and Grain Quality, Sanitation and Maintenance, an in-depth look at Aeration, and conclude with a discussion of Insects and Resistance.
There will be a participation fee of $25 payable at the door, and a catered lunch will be provided. There will also be 2 CEU offered provided to pesticide applicators. Conference is sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio Grain Safety Task Force.
