Location: 28.2 N, 96.7 W or 25 miles southwest of Port O'Connor

Maximum Sustained Winds: 60 mph

Present Movement: Northwest at 10 mph

Minimum Central Pressure: 997 mb or 29.44 inches


Tropical Storm Bill made landfall at 11:45 a.m. with maximum sustained winds near 60 mph. The storm is now over land and will slowly weaken over the next few hours as it moves to the northwest. Tropical storm force winds of 30 to locally 50 mph are still possible through the afternoon with the highest gusts over Calhoun and Aransas counties.

As Bill moves north through Texas tonight into Wednesday the main threat will become heavy rain and flooding. Two to five additional inches of rain are expected with the highest amounts over the far northeast.
