LIVE MUSIC AT HOUSE OF ROCK

Amplified Heat Numb to the Blow, Switchblade Jesus, Icky Hollow Fri, June 19, 2015 9:00 PM Originally begun as a blues band called Blues Condition, in Houston, TX, by the Ortiz brothers, Jim (guitar, vocals), Gian (bass, backing vocals), and Chris (drums), Amplified Heat adopted their present name and classic hard rock tendencies (and, briefly, the questionable moniker of Mass Abomination) after moving to Austin, circa 1999. Once there, the group began honing their performance chops all across the famed musical mecca and its nightclubs, eventually winning over many critics and fans with their loud, raucous, but always slightly bluesy retro-rock.

CC MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY FATHERíS DAY ENGINEERING CHALLENGE

In light of the recent debilitating egg shortage facing the nation, the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History announces that it has changed the scope of its Engineering Egg Drop Challenge scheduled for June 20. The event will be a fun brain game for the young and the young at heart! Hours: Museum open from 10am-5pm, engineering begins at 11am. Last competition at 4pm. Cost: general admission plus a $5 fee for each kit.
