There is a lot of standing water across much of the coastal plains of South Texas after a day of prolific rainfall. Additional rainfall of only 1/2 inch to 1 inch in one hour may be enough to result in additional flooding.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Coastal Bend and Victoria Crossroads area until 7 p.m. and the Western Rio Grande Plains until Midnight.
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over this region Thursday afternoon and continue into tonight.
Thunderstorms will be capable of producing 2 to 3 inches of rain per hour which would result in Flash Flooding.
At the Beach:
Continuing long period swells will produce a high risk of rip currents today across Gulf-facing beaches. Tide levels are down to about 1/2 ft above normal on Gulf Beaches and 1 to 1 1/2 ft above normal in the bays. These tide levels will continue to fall over the next couple days.
