It was reported last week that the Coastal Bend Veterans Band arrived at the band house located at Heritage Park only to discover that the outside air conditioning unit had been stolen. With the summer heat bearing down on most of South Texas this left the veterans band in quite the dilemma.

There were a total of six offers to help install the new unit and even offers of free labor, but that still left the band with the task of getting a new unit. Other individuals stepped forward within the community and a donation fund was started but that’s when another company stepped into the picture.

Combat Cooling and Heating from Kingsville Texas offered to donate a new air conditioning unit to the band. Donating and installing the new unit has enabled the band to return to their practice house and continue to serve their community and local area veterans.

“The response from our community was an awesome response to help replace the AC unit,” said Ram Chavez. “The Veterans Band is beyond appreciation for all the kind offers we received and support that continues for 29 years plus, thank you Corpus Christi and we salute you.”

On June 23rd the band held an appreciation reception at the band house to share their thanks with the community that stepped up to help them in their time of need. Through the kind actions of our local residents the band is able to continue serving the veterans and military communities in the Coastal Bend.
