KINGSVILLE — Texas A&M-Kingsville women’s basketball head coach Wade Scott announced the dates for this year’s summer camps. An individual shooting/skill, Little Javelina and shooting/position camps will all be held July 13-17 in the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center, each costing $50.

The individual shooting/skill camp is for girls in grades 4-6 and runs from 9-11 a.m. each day with registration starting 30 minutes before on Monday, July 13. Participants will receive individual instruction on all aspects of the game and is designed for them to learn basketball fundamentals while having fun at the same time. At the end of the week, campers will have the skills needed to practice at home to become better players with the emphasis on shooting the ball.

Registration for the Little Javelina camp will be from July 13 from 11-11:30 a.m. The camp is designed for girls in kindergarten through third grade and introduces them to the game of basketball. Coaches will incorporate a variety of activities to give an enjoyable environment specifically while enabling them in the skill-building process.

Girls in grades 7-12 can participate in the shooting/position camp from 2-5 p.m. each day with registration taking place 1:30-2 p.m. on Monday. Campers will be introduced to the proper techniques used in shooting the basketball and developing different offensive moves according to their position. By the end of the week, participants will have learned key fundamentals and drills that will help them improve their techniques for playing their position on the floor.

Preregistration is encouraged and walk-ins are accepted.
