High-boating traffic is expected this July 4th as thousands of boaters, along with their families and friends, will be out on the water enjoying the holiday. The Wear It! campaign offers a simple reminder that you can still have fun on the water while choosing to always wear a life jacket and boating responsibly.

Unfortunately, U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that drowning was the reported cause of death in almost three-fourths of recreational boating fatalities, and that 84 percent of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets. In most cases, parents will ensure their children are wearing life jackets, but feel they themselves donít really need one.
