A 43-year-old Alice man involved in a weekend shooting was apprehended by Corpus Christi police officers Monday about 1 a.m. The incident sent one man to the hospital with critical injuries to his face.

Alice police officers searched for Amador Mungia in connection with the shooting of 48-year-old Juan Govea of Alice on Sunday morning on the 200 block of Fourth Street. Alice police officers received a tip on Mungia's whereabouts and called CCPD, said Sgt. Jason Childers, with the Alice PD.

According to police, a group of men were drinking at the residence when an argument erupted between Mungia and the victim over noise since people were sleeping inside the home.

Mungia retrieved a shotgun from his white pickup truck and threatened to shoot the victim, police officials said. Govea was shot once in the face at close range, police said. He was transported to a hospital in Corpus Christi and remains in critical condition, according to police officials.

Mungia was transported to the Jim Wells County jail Monday at approximately 12:30 p.m. He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Mungia's bond is set at $500,000 as remains in custody as of Tuesday afternoon.
