CALALLEN- A firefighter was injured while battling a structure fire at a duplex in the 11600 block of Agua Dulce Creek Drive at approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department responded after a neighbor reported that she smelled smoke. When firemen arrived, flames were coming through the roof and controlled in about 20 minutes, Captain James Brown said.

The firefighter who suffered minor burns to his neck was treated at a medical facility and released, he said.

Brown said the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and the roof suffered substantial damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
