The Office of the Attorney General’s child support office that serves Nueces and four surrounding counties has moved to 500 N. Shoreline Blvd., Suite 210. Formerly located at 2820 S. Padre Island Dr., the new location opened for business in June.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitor parking is located in the parking garage at the corner of Water St. and Schatzell Street. The office validates parking tickets to ensure no cost to customers.

Under state and federal law, the Office of the Attorney General can assist families who request child support services and must serve families who currently receive or have received public assistance. Services offered by the OAG’s Child Support Division include locating absent parents, establishing paternity for children born to unmarried parents, establishing, enforcing and modifying child and medical support orders and collecting and distributing child support payments.

The Child Support Division serves 1.5 million families throughout Texas, and collected $3.8 billion in child support for the state fiscal year that ended Aug. 31. The Corpus Christi child support office collected $91 million of that amount. The Corpus Christi office handles 42,000 cases from Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kleberg and Nueces counties.
