After dealing with medical issues, K-9 Zorro with the Nueces County Sheriff's Department, died on Friday.
"He had faced some serious medical issues of late but those issues finally overwhelmed him and he succumbed to them Friday with his handler at his side," said Nueces Sheriff Jim Kaelin on his Facebook.
In retirement he was adopted and lived with his handler who gave him "one great retirement" life.
"I thank everyone who has sent their condolence," Kaelin said. "He was a "good dog." RIP Zorro - a true and trusted friend."
