Beatrice Zapata Sanchez, 91, of Robstown, Texas passed away peacefully Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Palestine Regional Hospital Hospice Unit in Palestine, Texas. She was born on May 2, 1924 in Robstown to Carlos and Cruz Zapata. Beatrice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Robstown. She lived in Robstown until June of 2014 and enjoyed playing bingo and socializing with friends at the Nueces County Community Center. Beatrice was Valentine Queen at the Center in February of 2014. She also enjoyed singing and dancing. She attended school in Robstown and received her GED at the age of 46. Beatrice was employed by Robstown ISD for many years and retired at the age of 70. Beatrice was loved by all who knew her, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she, in return, gave all of us unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carlos and Cruz Zapata; her siblings: Lucia Rodriguez, Rosalio Gomez, Gil Gomez, Candelaria Villarreal and Ramona Sanchez.
She is survived by one sister, Vicenta Pena and husband Servando of Navasota, Texas; five children, Anna Hinojosa and husband Ladislao of Corpus Christi; Diana Mendietta and husband Uvence of Palestine, Texas; Irene Marshall of Little Rock, Arkansas; Deacon Armando Sanchez and wife Alma of Corpus Christi, Adrian Sanchez and wife, Elva of McAllen, Texas. Beatrice had twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 09, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Burial will follow to Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Hinojosa and Michael L. Hinojosa.
