Alice police officers recently executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on the 1000 block of South Almond.

Upon arrival officers made contact with Leana Villarreal and her three juvenile children.

Villarreal was arrested on a City of Alice warrant for speeding.

Officers searched the home and discovered several sandwich bags that had the corners cut out, a Inositol powder used as an additive and a bag of marijuana, according to Cpl. Nick Juarez's report.

The children were released to Villarreal's family.

Villarreal was transported to the Jim Wells County jail and charged with possession of marijuana.

Driver reverses into officer's unit

On Thursday at approximately 1:30 a.m. Officer Benjamin Belmares conducted a routine traffic stop on the 200 block of South Stadium.

According to the report, the driver, Jennifer Mandel failed to place the vehicle in park and reversed into the officer's unit.

The officer made contact with Mandel whose speech was rapid and pupils were dilated.

Other officers arrived on the scene. A search of Mandel's vehicle located a marijuana cigarette and a glass pipe, report stated.

Mandel admitted to Belmares that she had a small amount of marijuana in her bra.

She was transported to the JWC jail. She was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Teacher assaulted

On Tuesday at approximately 12:30 p.m. Officer Julian Cavazos was dispatched to the William Adams Middle School for an assault on a teacher. 

The officer made contact with the principal who stated the 14-year-old male student pushed a teacher twice, report stated. The victim was able to catch herself.  

The student was transported to the Ricardo Garcia Juvenile Detention Facility.
