After two hours, 22 firefighters and three departments, a grass fire was finally under control on County Road 140 Tuesday evening.

The fire started about 6:30 p.m. and moved fast with a heavy fire load, Ben Bolt Fire Chief Patrick Thomas said.

Five acres, six homes and several vehicle were threatened. All six homes were saved.

Firefighters from Ben Bolt and San Diego were called in to assist with the fire.

Eight fire units assisted with the blaze.
