On Saturday, the Navy JROTC students from Tuloso-Midway High School participated in the Winter Adopt-A-Beach event at the North Shore Aquarium. After a long morning, the cadets managed to pick up more than 200 pounds of trash dropped by polluters.
As a reward for their hard work, the students were given the opportunity to earn their Sea Cruise Ribbon by boarding the Aransas Pass Ferry. They were able to brave the open seas of the Inter-coastal Waterway while trying to get their “sea legs” under them. They cadets were able to see dolphins jumping from the water as they played in the sea. “It was an enjoyable trip for all cadets; many of whom had never been on a boat, seen live dolphins playing, or felt sea spray on their faces,” said Lt. Commander Joe Harmon.
