Officers responded to Labonte Park at 1:35pm to a complaint of a body in the Nueces River. Upon arrival a White Male in his late 40's was found about 10 feet from the shore near the boat ramp.

The Medical Examiner’s Office were contacted and Police Detectives responded. There was no foul play suspected. A preliminary identification was done with the contents of the victim's wallet but the ME will need to make the final ID after running finger prints.

According to Kirk Stowers, Public Information Officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department, the medical examiner's office has not given a timeline for the release of the ME's report.  The Medical Examiner is responsible to determine the cause of death.

Foul play does not appear to be a factor based on preliminary evidence. However, police investigators are not ruling anything out until all evidence has been gathered.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone with any information about the man’s last actions before he was found. Anyone with information should contact the Corpus Christi Police Department at (361)886-2841.
