Late this morning, June 27, 2016 a bomb threat was reported to the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office. The security function of the Courthouse is the responsibility of the Sheriff. His officers responded and determined that the item reported as a potential bomb needed to be handled with extreme care.

At the same time the officer in charge of security sounded the alarm for the Courthouse to be evacuated. The evacuation was completed in a timely and orderly manner.

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Bomb Squad was called and after thorough examination determined it was not an explosive.

The Courthouse returned to normal business around 1 p.m. Judge Neal expresses his thanks to the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office and the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Bomb Squad for the professional response and handling of this potential threat.
