Cadets from the NJROTC unit at Tuloso-Midway accepted a check from the HEB Tournament of Champions. The $2,000.00 given to the NJROTC will be used to help support the transportation costs to Basic Leadership Training at USMC Recruit Training Base, Parris Island, South Carolina.

“Our partners at HEB recognized that the education of students at Tuloso-Midway High School not only includes the materials provided inside the classrooms but that an education also includes the concept that hard work and a dedication to self-improvement can provide an excellent education as well”, said LCDR Joe Harmon, ROTC Instructor.

Through the generosity of the H-E- B Tournament of Champions, the cadets were able to travel to South Carolina to participate in a week-long training exercise supervised by actual Marine Corp Drill Instructors. After spending an exhausting week in the heat and sandy soil of Parris Island, the cadets graduated from the training course and returned to Tuloso-Midway. According to LCDR Harmon, the students are better able to tackle the frustrations and problems of high school life as well as be better members of the Corpus Christi community.
