The site of a HALO-Flight air ambulance landing on a highway or in a parking lot usually translates into trauma for someone; but, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, when one of the helicopter fleet landed on the Del Mar College West Campus it signaled how vital education is to the relationship between first responders and the critical care flight team of HALO-Flight, Inc.

Last semester paramedic students of Del Mar Instructor Rene Botello demonstrated an empirical experience with HALO-Flight Education Director Ryan Kelley and a HALO-Flight Pilot when the aircraft touches down at the Aviation Maintenance Building on the Del Mar West Campus.

In addition to Kelley’s orientation, students will be able to see the aircraft land and launch, and to get up close to the various workings of the aircraft in advance of a trauma call once they are working as certified paramedics.
