The Nueces County Commissioners Court, local elected officials, representatives from various first responder organizations, and family members of the memorialized gathered on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the recently completed Fallen Heroes Memorial.

“We all felt that it was important to have a place that will forever honor the memory of those men and women who gave their lives while providing a blanket of security for this community,” County Commissioner Mike Pusley said.

The Fallen Heroes Memorial is intended to recognize, and honor, all first responders, including law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty within Nueces County, while selflessly protecting the citizens of the community.

It will provide a place of remembrance for the families of those who have lost their lives. Until now, Nueces County did not have a memorial, which honored the sacrifice of these brave individuals.

The memorial is located outside the Leopard Street entrance of the Nueces County Courthouse.
