The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District would like to remind residents that it is not too late to get vaccinated against the flu. According to health officials, flu activity in Nueces County has been on the rise. Flu season usually peaks February through May. 

The Centers for Disease Control recommends flu vaccinations for anyone six months and older. The vaccination not only protects the individual, but also family members and the rest of the community.

The cost of the flu vaccine is $20 per dose (cash, credit card, debit card, or check accepted for payment). Humana insurance is also accepted. Flu vaccine available while supplies lasts. 

People over 65, pregnant women, young children and people with chronic health conditions are most at risk for complications and are urged to get vaccinated. People with flu-like-symptoms need to seek prompt medical attention.

Symptoms of the flu include high fever, coughing, severe headache, sore throat, aches, chills and fatigue.

The schedule at the Horne Road Clinic located at 1702 Horne Road is as follows:

· Mondays: Walk-Ins 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m.

· Tuesdays thru Fridays, by appointment.

An ID is required. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
