Nueces County Coastal Parks officials were notified that one of the Coastal Restoration projects made the draft list for approval in the amount of $7.5 million.

The restoration project includes Padre Balli and Magee Beach Parks.

"While this is not a done deal, this is a great start for Nueces County to be on this list," Precinct 4 Commissioner Brent Chesney said.

The original draft list included four projects in Nueces County with a potential funding amount of $21.1 million through the RESTORE Bucket 1 grant program.

"Over 200 project applications requesting a total of $1.1 billion were received and reviewed to develop the draft list," said Commissioner Toby Baker with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The RESTORE grants, a reimbursement program, are funded by federal administrative and civil penalties paid by the responsible parties from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
