CORPUS CHRISTI - Willie Greenwood, 21, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the murder of Freer native Alekzandra Rangel.
According to Corpus Christi Police Department, Greenwood was arrested by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force on the outstanding warrant for murder along with two additional outstanding warrants for aggravated robbery, and failure to appear/assault causes bodily injury family member.
On Wednesday, Jan. 24, officers responded to shots fired call on the 6400 block of Weber Road when they were redirected to the 600 block of Everhart where they discovered 20-year-old Rangel had been shot in the head. The car she was found in was riddled with bullet holes, according to police.
Rangel was transported to the hospital, but died due to her injuries.
After an investigation, officers determined that the robbery call and shooting victim call were related. Shots were fired at a car leaving the scene of an alleged robbery at the apartments.
Greenwood was transported to the City Detention Center for processing and than transferred to the Nueces County jail.
