Several firefighting agencies were called out to battle a hotel fire in South Texas.
A fire broke out at a 1:27 pm Sunday afternoon at a Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Falfurrias, Texas.
David Flores, the city manager for Falfurrias, says once the Falfurrias Fire Chief arrived at the scene, he asked for mutual help from the Kingsville and Alice Fire Department.
Firefighters say there were more than thirty people that were inside the hotel when the fire broke out.
As the flames continued to spread across the entire hotel, firefighters requested additional help from Kenedy County, Kleberg County, Brooks County, Annaville Fire Department, Nueces Couty firefighters, including Weslaco and Edinburg firefighters.
Firefighters with the Corpus Christi Fire Department have responded to assist in the hotel fire.
An emergency coordinator said in a press brief that the fire is contained but the fire destroyed the hotel. Crews are going to remain at the scene to maintain hotspots.
Falfurrias Police Chief Alberto Gonzalez says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
