This Wednesday’s Market Features $5 Veggie Vouchers for Kids.

Corpus Christi, TX —  The Youth International Sailing Competition has brought an energy and level of activity to our Bayfront that is being celebrated across the community. This Wednesday, The Corpus Christi Downtown Farmers’ Market is collaborating with Bayfront neighbor, The Corpus Christi Yacht Club, for one of the biggest Downtown Farmers’ Markets ever seen.

The first 100 children in attendance (ages 3-12) will receive $5 Veggie Vouchers to spend on fresh, local produce thanks to the generosity of NEC Electric Co-op. Children may treat the vouchers as cash to purchase any fresh fruits, vegetables or vegetable plants they care to.

“All of the Corpus Christi Sparkling City by the Sea stars will align this Wednesday for an enlivened Bayfront,” said GROW Local South Texas Executive Director Aislynn Campbell. “The Youth Sailing World Championship alongside the Farmers’ Market show that healthy lifestyle and our Shoreline go hand in hand.”

In addition to this week’s special Veggie Vouchers, visitors will find all of the amenities of a typical Downtown Farmers’ Market: food trucks, live music, yoga, kids’ art activities and, of course, the freshest seasonally-available produce, meat, cheese, coffee, honey and other great food in South Texas.

“We’ve invited all the youth participating in the competition to The Market,” said GROW Local South Texas Programs Director Cynthia Garcia. “Thank to our weekly market, tourists always have a great time on a Wednesday night in Corpus Christi. Combined with the veggie vouchers which are always popular with residents, it’s going to be a beautiful site, filled with people from home and all over the world together in one large celebration.”
