ROBSTOWN – The Robstown Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously named Dr. José H. Moreno as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent.

With 22 years of experience in education, Dr. Moreno has served as a Bilingual

Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Senior Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction,

Assistant Superintendent of Leadership, and Superintendent.

Dr. Moreno most recently served La Vernia ISD as Superintendent, where under his leadership strategic partnerships with local colleges and universities were formed, and his students gained hands-on industry experiences and certifications through dual credit coursework.

He strongly believes that education is the “equalizer of opportunity” and that children deserve to receive an education that is customized to their interests.

Dr. Moreno holds a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, a

Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University - Kingsville, a

Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a Bachelor of Science

degree in Applied Learning and Development with an emphasis in Bilingual Education from the

University of Texas at Austin.

Chairman of the Board, Oscar Lopez stated, “The Board of Trustees have thoroughly vetted

the lone finalist during our interview process and we feel that Dr. Moreno is an exceptional leader

who was at the top of the candidate pool. We are confident that he will lead us in carrying out the District’s Mission to empower individuals today to prepare for tomorrow. We realize that this was a

major decision for Robstown ISD, and we’d like to thank our faculty, staff, students and community

members for their input and feedback during the selection process.”

By law, the Robstown school district is required to give notice to the public of a finalist for the

Superintendent position at least 21 days before taking action to employ the person.
