Arts Alive brings crazy creativity to the last days of summer
Labor Day weekend, September 1 & 2
The last festival of the summer will be buzzing with artists, great music, local craft beer, food trucks and dozens of hands-on creative activities for the whole family.
Arts Alive kicks off Saturday morning with the 1/2K by the Bay Beer Run. That is correct, this is a 0.5K. There is no need to be a marathoner, but participants must be 21 or over because the race is run while holding a pint of beer. Whoever finishes first with their beer above the official cup line wins the glory and a handmade beer mug. Registration is $30 at www.artcentercc.org
Crazy creative fun for all ages continues all weekend.
Saturday morning 100 free harmonicas will be given away to kids 12 and under so they can take a kids harmonica clinic (11:30) with Tim Gonzalez. Tim won the Nashville Industry Award, Blues Artist of the Year in 2017 and 2016. He will perform in the park at 2 p.m.
See art! Watch glass blowing, an airbrush artist, weaving on a giant loom, a street steamroller print giant art and so much more!
Try art! The pottery you glaze will be put into a flaming garbage can. Get sandcastle building tips from pro DC Sandman. Help create a mosaic bench that will live at the Art Center after the festival!
Family Art Time takes over the courtyard, so bring the kids and enjoy dozens of make and take projects.
