Local high school students participated in the 2018 – 2019 Coastal Bend Blood Center's High School Hero Challenge.

The year-long competition separates high schools based on size and encourages them to collect the highest number of blood donations for the division.

There were 248 blood drives at 53 schools in the Coastal Bend area with 11,463 units of blood collected.
