It is our pleasure to announce David Nuss as the new Executive Director of GROW Local South Texas.
David, who served on GROW Local South Texas’ Executive Board from 2014-2015 and 2017-2018, is no stranger to GROW Local's purpose, vision and community.
Among his vast amount of GROW Local volunteer work, David was the first demo chef way back at CC Farmers' Market's first location, has been involved in countless food-based classes and workshops and spent hours at The Learning Garden in addition to his two Executive Board terms. (And let's not forget the time that the band cancelled on the morning of a past Farm to Table Dinner Fundraiser and David created a replacement band where he played drums.)
David left the GROW Local Executive Board after moving in 2017. Accepting the role of Executive Director is bringing him back home.
"After working as a food activist in New York City and Austin, I'm so excited to come back home and continue GROW Local's important work," said David. "I've watched just how important this organization has become to our community and believe we're only getting started. GROW Local South Texas has a unique opportunity to lead the local food movement in our state."
David understands exactly where we've been and where our local food system is headed.
"There is big work to be done in our community and I am committed to continuing to expanding GROW Local South Texas' impact," said David. "
David’s hiring comes as GROW Local South Texas implements a plan of strategic growth in fundraising, development and outreach, building on its many successes.
"We could not be more excited to have David working with GROW Local South Texas," said Kyle Hoelscher, President of GROW Local South Texas’ Executive Board. "He is not only fully committed to the values of the organization, but also brings critical leadership skills that GROW Local South Texas needs as we continue to deliver on our timely and important mission of growing Corpus Christi's access to an affordable, nutrient dense local food network."
"Our next big event is the 2020 Farm to Table Dinner Fundraiser with a new location and larger scope. April 19, 2020! Be sure to put it on your calendar today. I hope I'll meet you there."
