An investigation has been launched after the body of 65-year-old Edward "Eddie" Hernandez was discovered by joggers Tuesday morning at Nueces County park in Robstown. His family says that he left the house Monday night to pick up fast food and never returned.
The Nueces County District Attorney's Office Task Force confirmed, that authorities were called to the scene, located on 415 Mainer Road sometime before 10 a.m.
Detectives said Hernandez died from multiple stab wounds to the upper chest.
"He was well-known in Robstown," said Chief of Police Enrique Paredez. "He was a local painter with no past history of criminal activity."
His car was found this morning parked at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Authorities believe the suspect took the car from the park and left it at the church after killing Hernandez.
This is an open investigation. When asked why they believe Hernandez may have been targeted, they could not share any information
