The Robstown Police Department (RPD), has received multiple calls about a phone scam in the area.

The scam includes residents receiving a call from an employee that works for the City of Robstown or the RPD. The call entails a fear tactic, to gain access to the victims social security number by stating that the number is involved in a drug smuggling and money laundering case. The caller then proceeds to gain access to victims social security number by threatening to send someone out to arrest them if they do not verify.

RPD, is asking residents to please write down the number, hang-up and report the call to the police department, directly at (361) 387-3531.

Many times these scams are successful on seniors, city staff is asking the public to please share and educate the elders in the community.
