On the evening of Dec. 7 during a special "Opened Meeting" of the Robstown Masonic Lodge 1062, Mr. Inez Ramon, Jr. was awarded the Community Builder Award for the Masonic year 2009-2010.
The award was presented by Worshipful Master William Horne, in front of members of the Lodge, relatives and friends.
"This award was designed to enable a Lodge to recognize outstanding non-Masons in the community who have distinguished themselves through their service to the community, to the local state or national government, to their Church or Synagogue or to humanity," Horne said. "Thus, the award will be made available to be presented to individuals who, although they have never been initiated into Masonry, have followed the same precepts, ideas and standards that have been established for Masonic behavior."
Ramon is married to the former Ann Davis, a music teacher at the RISD. They have three grown children and six grandchildren.
Ramon is also a member in the Robstown Historical Commission, were he served as president for a number of years, as well as a retired school teacher and is the minister of the Northwest Baptist Church.
