A group of northwest Corpus Christi Girl Scouts will be conducting a holiday drive to collect items for a local non-profit organization.

Girl Scouts Daisy Troop 9784, from the Calallen/Tuloso Midway area, will be conducting a community service project entitled "Holiday Hope Drive." The Holiday Hope Drive will help collect items for the Ronald McDonald House.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, organizers said.

The Girl Scouts will be looking to collect paper goods, gift cards to H-E-B or Wal-Mart, disposable cameras and toiletries for all ages. In addition, organizers said items such as art supplies, crayons, coloring books, board games, small blankets, socks and underwear, warm-ups, jackets and pajamas (all different sizes) will also be accepted for children.

Anyone interested in helping out with the community service project can take items to Hurb's Restaurant at 10446 Interstate 37, inside the Shell gas station, for drop off or call Letty at 558-6095.

The girls will be collecting the donated items on Dec. 16 and delivering them to the Ronald McDonald House the next day.
