Agua Dulce Postmaster Imelda G. Perez recently presented Korean War Veteran Rudy Corral a sheet of 20, 44-cent Purple Heart stamps.

He is U.S. Army Retired and a 1951 recipient of the Purple Heart. Corral, a resident of Agua Dulce, was stationed in Japan from 1948 to 1951 and served in the U.S. Army until 1983.

When asked about his Purple Heart award, Corral said, "During the Korean War we were in the area North of the 38 parallel close to Ham Yang and Pan Mun Jon and around the Im Jin River. This was in February 1951. Early one morning, our positions were overrun by a large Chinese force. It was during this encounter that I was wounded. I can remember that it was very cold."
