Employees of Flint Hills Resources extended their string of consecutive days without a serious injury to 2,555 - seven years - on Dec. 23.

"This milestone was attained by the continuous attention our employees place on working safely," said Phil Gaarder, vice president and manufacturing manager for Flint Hills Resources. "These 900-plus men and women show diligence in performing their jobs safely and in helping each other do the same. I am proud of their efforts and the leadership they bring to work every single day."

The previous complex safety record, before this current string of consecutive days without an injury resulting in time away from work, was 1,521 days.

Both the East and West plants within the Corpus Christi refining complex are Voluntary Protection Program Star sites recognized by Occupational Safety and Health Administration. VPP Star is OSHA's top workplace safety designation.
