CORPUS CHRISTI - Concierge service may often be reserved for the rich and famous, but officials at a newly remodeled Corpus Christi imaging center say every patient should be treated like a VIP.

Among the amenities at Radiology Associates' Southside Imaging Center are plush robes, private changing rooms, and a person whose sole job is to be, responsive to patients needs while they're waiting for their appointment.

"This new, free concierge service…brings a sophisticated approach to customer service," said Carmen Arias, marketing director for the outpatient imaging centers. "At no additional fee or increased premium, patients receive service similar to a concierge at a five-star hotel."

Arias said whether it's providing patients directions, offering a glass of water, changing the radio station or waiting curbside with wheelchair assistance, the concierge serves patients from the moment they make the appointment to the moment they walk out the door.

"If their wait has taken more than five minutes, the concierge will let the patient know how much longer, and offer a friendly, 'Can I get you anything?'" Arias said.

Arias said the concierge service is one of the recent offerings that differentiates the Southside Imaging Center at 5742 Spohn Drive from other radiology clinics in the area.

In addition to a full range of outpatient imaging services, Radiology Associates has recently finished a complete makeover of a portion of its facility to focus specifically on women.

It doesn't look like your typical medical facility, and administrators say there's no way patients can miss the unique architecture of the remodeled building and its bright blue windows.

"Everyone has had nothing but positive comments about the enhanced building, and more importantly the services being offered," Arias said. "We are providing quality services beyond people's expectations and doctors are glad to see the expansion.

"With gas prices being what they are, the 'close to home' factor, convenience and quality are all very important to our patients."

The center is also offering expanded hours of operation.

"It is our way to provide excellent customer service at no additional cost," Keitt said. "We want to make sure that while patients wait they have a pleasurable experience. We hope to alleviate the stress of waiting in a waiting room, every step of the way."

Comprised of six outpatient imaging centers, Radiology Associates offers magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, digital mammography, DEXA bone densitometry, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography and X-ray testing, as well as subspecialty expertise in musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, women's imaging, nuclear medicine/PET and more.

The newly expanded center is open 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Fridays, and 8 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
