The Tuloso-Midway Independent School District Education Foundation received a $3,000 grant Tuesday from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation for its Educator Initiative Program.

The funds will be used to award mini-grants to Tuloso-Midway teachers for innovative classroom teaching projects.

"We are very grateful for this generous grant from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation and appreciate their support of our efforts to motivate teachers and enhance student learning," Anna Flores, TMISD Education Foundation president, said in a prepared statement.

The TMISD Education Foundation was formed in April 2004. Since then, it has awarded more than $135,000 in innovative teaching grants to TMISD teachers.

"Our district is fortunate to have the support of the Education Foundation and the community leaders who serve on it," Superintendent Cornelio Gonzalez said. "Together, they are able to work in partnership with businesses, organizations and individuals to fund new resources for classroom programs which help prepare our students to be the leaders of tomorrow."
