Charles Edward Hickey, 83, of Corpus Christi died Nov. 23, 2007.
Charles was born July 12, 1924 to Jack and Alma Hickey in New Castle, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill R. Hickey; and his wife, Lois Marie Hickey.
He is survived by his sons, Paul Edward Hickey of Corpus Christi and Michael J. Hickey of Houston; his daughters, Frances I. Hickey of Austin, Jo Ann Odom (Dan) of Georgetown, and Becky M. Pesek (Mike) of Odem; seven grandchildren, Dustin Ray Odom, Dana Michelle Odom, Phillip Wayne Pesek, Jennifer Lynn Pesek, Samuel James Pesek, John Thomas Pesek, and Katherine Lois Pesek; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He graduated from Burlingame High School in Burlingame, Calif. He was employed by the U.S. Forestry Service in California for one year, was employed as a brakeman and switchman for 44 years with Union Pacific Railroad and retired in 1988. He cherished the yearly family camping trips, his children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events, and in his later life enjoyed square dancing. He was a founding member of St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the Chapel of the Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome as celebrant. Interment followed in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
