John Tennison Corder, 63, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at his home in Port Aransas.

He was born Oct. 19, 1944 in San Antonio and grew up in Robstown, where he was an Eagle Scout.

After graduating from Robstown High School he moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. John was a registered pharmacist and earned his degree and graduated from Pharmacy School at the University of Texas. He was an avid Longhorns fan all of his life. For the past 21 years he lived in Port Aransas where he owned and operated Island Pharmacy until 1992. John was active in the community and previously served as a councilman for the city of Port Aransas; past member of the Port Aransas Planning & Zoning Commission; past board member of the Corpus Christi RTA Board and the Nueces County Park Board.

He was a member of the Port Aransas Rotary Club and held each level of office in the Rotary Club. John also was a past president, board member and member of the Chamber of Commerce of Port Aransas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Audrey Corder.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca of Port Aransas; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Daphne Corder of Austin; stepson, John Colborn also of Austin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and wife, Janet Corder of Southlake, and twin brother, Mike, and wife, Joy Corder of Lexington; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and husband, Mike Valiquette of Girdwood, Alaska; two granddaughters, Lauren and Jennifer Corder, both of Austin; five nieces, three nephews; and his lifelong friends, Johnny and Claudia Secrest of Corpus Christi.

Memorial services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Port Aransas. The Rev. Richard Safford officiated.
