Mildred Sue Hunter died in her home in Corpus Christi on Oct. 19, 2007 surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in Frederick, Okla. on July 19, 1913, the youngest daughter of Henry Nabors and Rhoda Slack Nabors.

The Nabors family moved to Shawnee, Okla. When she was 4 years old. "Bill," as she was known to her family, attended Shawnee public schools and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University. It was there that she met J.D. Perry of Oklahoma City. Bill and J.D. were married in 1935 in Pawnee, Okla.

She is survived by three children of this marriage; Sue (Carl) Bickham and David Perry, both of Corpus Christi, and John (Amy) Perry of The Woodlands.

Mildred and J.D's marriage took them from Oklahoma City to Florida and then to Texas. In 1959 they returned to Oklahoma and made their home in Muskogee. Following J.D.'s death in 1963, Mildred assumed the duties of head of the family. In 1966, Mildred married Robert Bryant of Muskogee. Following his death in 1977, Mildred moved back to Corpus Christi to be closer to her children. In 1979 she married Joe Hunter and they lived happily in the "family compound" on Hearn Road until his death in 1994.

Mildred was a member of the Calallen Baptist Church and was a Life Member of Northwest Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of several clubs that featured card games and dominos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rhoda Nabors; her sisters, Louise Carey, Patty Searcy and Lela Maud Baker; her brothers, Ralph and Miles Nabors; and daughter-in-law, Maryanne Simonelli-Perry.

In addition to her children, she is survived by six grandchildren, Carla (Randy) Register , Michelle (Ron) Wolff, Perri (Mark) Taron, Dana Perry, Jennifer Perry, and Nate Perry; eight great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Perry.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life was held at Calallen Baptist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. Interment will be Friday, Oct. 26, in Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Okla., by Walker Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Nate Perry, Randy Register, Keith Emshoff, G.K. Bickham, Mark Taron, and Bob Billings.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to Calallen Baptist Church, 13505 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
