Alan Alois Studer, 88, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008.
He was born May 2, 1920 in Robstown to Alois and Margaretha Kissling-Studer. While he was a lifetime resident of both Corpus Christi and Robstown, he enjoyed visiting and learning about his family's Swiss origins. He attended Tarleton University in Stephenville, where he majored in chemistry. After marrying, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and experiencing adventures. They built the Las Palmas Dance Hall in Laredo. In his later years, after retiring from NASCC Public Works, he could always be found bailing hay, spending time with his brother, Theodore, and his sister, Alma, dancing, watching the news, or reading a book. He enjoyed farming and ranching, watching his children and grandchildren work and play at the family ranch, expanding his fascination and knowledge of airplanes, and telling stories about the good old days.
He was preceded in death by his four siblings, Wallace Studer, Theodore J. Studer, Rudolph Studer and Alma Studer-Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe A. Studer of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Mary Ann (Dave) Easton of Corpus Christi, and Alma Marie Studer of Robstown; his son, Albert L. (Monica) Studer of Corpus Christi; three grandchildren, Amber (Kelly) Studer-Meegan, Albert Alan Studer and Alexandria Taylor Matthews; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
