Luis G. Flores Sr., 73, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1934 in Bluntzer and resided in Robstown until moving to Sandia in 1991.
Luis served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. He worked for Gulf Concrete for many years, then went on to work for the Nueces County Road Department until his retirement in 1996. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Churchh and St. John of the Cross in Orange Grove as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3110 for many years. Luis enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Herlinda Flores; brothers, Juan and Jesus Flores; and sister, Carmen Trevino.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Irma Flores; his son, Luis Flores Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Lamar and Rick Saenz; two grandchildren, John Reilly and Lindsay Olivia Saenz; sisters, Santos (the late Fidencio) Flores, Adela (Alfredo) Obregon and Irene (Daniel) Luna; sister-in-law, Josie (the late Jesus) Flores; and many nephews and nieces.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Entombment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown.
