For the 11th year, Reliant’s Beat the Heat Centers in partnership with the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department will provide a safe way for Corpus Christi-area residents to stay cool during the hottest days of summer.

New this year, Reliant powered up the summer by providing family activities, cooling devices like arctic air coolers and cool snacks for community center visitors to pick-up curbside to help them keep cool in their homes, while continuing to practice social distancing.

The summer season officially begins Saturday, June 20 and the Reliant Beat the Heat centers provide an important resource to the community for the hot months to come.

Beat the Heat locations include:

Greenwood Senior Center, 4040 Greenwood Dr.

Lindale Senior Center, 3135 Swantner St.

Oveal Williams Senior Center, 1414 Martin Luther King Dr.

Activities for visitors to take home include games, arts and crafts and indoor fitness activities. The centers will also be providing cooling devices, like arctic air coolers, paper fans, visors, water bottles, sunglasses, and hats to help battle the summer heat.

Reliant will be providing energy efficiency tips to help residents save energy during the summer and sharing information on the CARE (Community Assistance by Reliant Energy) program for those in need. Across Texas, Reliant has provided over $11 million in bill payment assistance through the CARE program and flexible payment options for customers in need.
