Nueces County in agreement with the Texas General Land Office has closed the beaches from vehicle traffic until August, 1. All closures are in response to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

County Judge Barbara Canales asked Texans this week during the Public Health Briefing to coastal distance from the gulf coast beaches for summer vacations, due to nature of the increase of COVID-19 cases in the area.

The beach closure order follows the same rules as the July, 4 and Easter weekend and includes North Beach, McGee Beach and North Padre. Individuals may walk to the beach but vehicle access will be restricted.

Order states no persons are allowed on the beach from sun set to sun down, no camping. Bay Beaches will not permit chairs, sitting or laying down primarily only open for exercise purposes. City pools will be closed too.
